Blind Eyes
Exodus 14: 10, 13
10 As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord.!”
13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Be still and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.
As I sit at my desk this morning talking to the Lord, He reminded me of one of my favorite verses and word pictures in the Bible. The children of Israel had just left Egypt and their time of bondage has come to an end. God is leading them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. How amazing is that! They never had to wonder whether God was with them, they could see it. But did they really see it?
We move now into chapter 14 where Pharaoh realizes, hey…all my workers are gone, and so he calls into action his chariots, and his captains to go get them back. Israel is now camped by the sea. The army approaches, (I think they heard them before they saw them). The people looked back to where they came from, and saw the army and were very afraid. They didn’t see the pillar, they looked back and saw danger, not ahead to where God was taking them!
So, today what are your eyes seeing, are you seeing the news broadcasts, and reading all the posts on Facebook, or are you focusing your mind, your soul on the God of the impossible, are you letting Him lead you, and comfort you?
Moses began to talk to the people. That’s what a good shepherd does. He brought perspective, and right vision to the people. He says two powerful words…”Be still” Which means be quiet, or silence! It is so hard for us to get quiet. But, when we do we see God work. Moses ends this adjustment to the way they see things with this…if you listen, and watch God, you will see Him bring the victory!
My encouragement today, is just that…turn off the TV, and your computer; get quiet; place your eyes on the source of all peace, and confidence and see Him bring the Victory!
