Beam Me Up Scotty

Proverbs 18:10
10  "The name of the LORD is a strong tower. The righteous run to it and are safe."

I am a big time Star Trek fan. The most favorite of all the series was the original, broadcast in
September, 1966. The wonder of going where no man had gone before, dealing with situations
that have never challenged man before; all of this left me sitting before my television at home,
week after week, waiting for Captain Kirk to champion the day.

The cry of every episode where danger and frustration rose up, was from Captain Kirk “Scotty I need more power”, or more commonly when they faced impossible situations the call was
“beam me up Scotty”. Get me out of here!

We’re like that. When difficult situations rise up we forget where our source of power really is.
We let adversity, and fear cloud, or consume our thinking. We forget, and many times pray,
“Lord…beam me out of this. We are always looking for the easiest, quickest mode too change
the situation we are facing.

There is only one real source of power and change. Star Trek had Dilithium Crystals, which
always kept failing, or transport booths that never were operational. Our source of power is
with us wherever we go… Hebrews 13:5. Our source is abundant in power… Psalm 147:5. Our
source of power sustains everything… Hebrews 1:3. Our source of power gives us everything we
need…2 Peter 1:3.

So, while you are sitting at home, don’t look to run away, look to run too! The Name of Jesus
Christ is above every name named…Philippians 2:9; run to Him and you will be safe. He is our
source!
