Prince of Peace

“If you build it, they will come. For it is money that they have, but it is peace that they
lack.” -Field of Dreams

He is our peace. He has broken down every wall
He is our peace. He is our peace. (repeat)
Cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you.
He is our peace. He is our peace.

This is a worship song we sang in church many years ago. It is based on Ephesians
2:14 and 1 Peter 5:7.
Can it really be that simple? “Cast all your cares on Him”? But what am I going to do if I
don’t take action right now? But what action shall I take? What if it doesn’t work? How
bad can this get?

This, and a thousand other questions overwhelm us in times of trouble. We don’t think
right. We go into confusion. We become anxious. Our mind doesn’t stop. We want
answers, because that is how we think we are going to have peace. What we need is
Jesus – the one who can give us peace!

How do we get there? Believe what Jesus said. Pray, love one another, put others
before yourself, be a servant to all. If we do these things, and the many others Jesus
told us, we begin to direct our mind from things that worry us to things we can do for
others. We begin to experience Jesus in our life. We begin to have peace.
Hundreds of years before Jesus came, Isaiah prophesied: “His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” -Isaiah 9:6
In John 14:27, Jesus said, “My peace I give to you.” Receive it by grace, with
thanksgiving – and share it with others!!!
