Change Happens

The world we live in is constantly changing, some things go smooth, while others are harder.  In 2016, my life changed in the fact that our daughter got married, our son graduated high school and started college and my wife and I moved into a smaller home and became empty nesters.  Over a course of a few months, everything that we had become comfortable with had been turned upside down.

When I think of my little life change, and I know that it is nothing to what others had dealt with and overcome, but for me, I found myself on my knees before the Lord asking simply, “now what?”  I was brought back to the book of John over and over again.  Specifically John 16:7 which says, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”  I have spent many hours thinking about what was going through the disciples mind while Jesus was talking.

Their world was being flipped upside down and what they were hearing must have been hard for them to take in. And yet the Father had planned ahead, and knew that we would need to call on the Holy Spirit for help.  The Holy Spirit is crucial to my personal walk, it is what I lean on in times of change, trouble, or uncertainty.  With the current situation that our world faces, it is the Helper that continues to be my guide.

I am so blessed, as we all are to call be able to call Desert Chapel home.  So today, as you spend time in God’s word, and as you spend time with Him, lean into the Holy Spirit and ask for His comfort, His direction for your day.  We now get to be the church that Jesus started with His disciples, and what you do, what we do is bring Jesus to our neighbors, our families, our visitors, our congregation.  And all for His glory.  We have quite the privilege being a part of this family.  And I am blessed to be a part of it.
