Time

The other morning my wife and I were having a conversation about what exactly I don’t
recall, but what I do recall is that I love spending time with her. I love sitting and talking
weather it is over coffee in the morning or a Starbucks in the afternoon. When I met her for
the first time, there was something about her that almost brought me to my knees. I looked
forward to waking up in the morning and being able to call her to check in, although we had
spent time just a few hours before, I wanted to make sure she was alright and that nothing
had happened in-between those 5-6 hours.

Spending time with her became all I wanted to do, I would go to work and at my break I
would call her, when I got home from work I would call her, then I would most nights drive
the 45 minutes to just see her, only to call her as soon as I returned back home for the
evening. Can you relate? Is there someone that you love to be around, regardless of what
is going on around you? I would hope that you said yes, and if you weren’t able to, then I
pray that person will come into your life.

The book of John is one of my favorite books in the New Testament, and whenever I am
reading it, I think about the disciples getting to hang out with Jesus all the time, and I
wonder what they would talk about, things that are not in the Bible. Friends hanging out
with friends, the jokes, the laughs that would happen. I mean, I am sure one of them tripped
at least once in front of Jesus, and I imagine Jesus laughing right alongside of the rest.

John 15:15 says, “No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his
master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I
have made known to you.”
How cool is that, being friends with Jesus, well that is exactly
what you and I are, friends of Jesus. He is someone that we can call on any time during the
day, someone that will always be there with you. The problem that I have is that I miss the
opportunity a lot of the time because I am busy with life, however, the days that I do spend
with Him are a lot better than the days I miss.

I want to challenge you today – make time for your friend, make it a point to spend some
time with Jesus. As much as I love my wife, and I really love my wife, I love Jesus more,
and spending time with Him each day, is how I am able to spend time with other people, He
helps me be a better husband, father, and friend to others.

Be blessed –
Pastor Jesse
